A Comparison of the Three Learning Perspectives

http://home.earthlink.net/~dougary/ITEC_800/final_project/comparison.htm

suggested activities

Structure a class you would teach using the behavioral perspective. How would you state your objectives as learner behaviors? What cues and consequences will you use?

Structure a class you would teach using the information processing perspective? How will you organize new information? How will you link it to your students’ existing knowledge? What techniques will you use to make information processing easier (e.g. focusing questions, analogies, mnemonics)?

Structure a class you would teach using the constructivist perspective. What are the “good” problems you will present? How will you foster collaborative learning among your students? What will be your responsibilities as “model and guide”?

Create a lesson plan for a class you would teach combining instructional techniques from all three perspectives.
