Course ITEC 800 Theoretical Foundations of Instructional Technologies
Instructor Dr. Kim Foreman
Semester Fall 2002
Course Description Conceptual orientations to the theoretical structures that form the foundation of instructional systems message design: learning theories, instructional psychology, and instructional systems theory.

Final project New Faculty 201: A primer for New Faculty on Learning Theories and Theorists

The final project in this course is a personalized synthesis of the material taught in the course. The project can be a product of instructional materials based on one or more of instructional theories taught or a summary/critique paper of major instructional theories. I chose the former, and created a website to teach learning theories to ph.D. students or new faculty.

Objectives

  • To inform the audience of key concepts and theories from the field of Instructional design and technology.
  • To introduce the audience to the seminal work done by some Instructional theorists such as Bloom, Gagne and Mager.
  • To provide the audience with a resource base to explore the subject beyond the scope of the project.
  • To provide the audience tips for incorporating the theories and concepts they study in real life situations.
  • To suggest assignments and activities that assess their understanding of the material presented.
